I was suppose to post this a week ago after leaving Philippines.
Though ever since I returned from Philippines to China.
It has been crazy busy and I had no time to blog.
I was busy;
Back to topic, my Philippines trip.
This was my final trip to Philippines for a while.
Before I would see my team of Filipinos every 6-10 weeks but now, its going to be a bit longer.
It was a bit emotional not just because the holidays but because I feel we bonded as a small family. The team I put together is not only honest but hard working. And I won’t see them for maybe half a year or perhaps longer.
At first we went through some trial and errors but as we worked longer together they started knowing what I desired. They started sharing a similar vision as I portrayed to them. And in the long run, that will help us save time and money. From a kick ass Designer, UI Designer, Graphic Designer to rock star PHP Programmers. They are very determined and get shit done, and for that, they’re the most amazing web team I have ever built in my lifetime.
So leaving Philippines was not easy.
This trip I spent more quality time with my team.
We went to various lunches and dinners but our favorite place was Mr Kurosawa Euro Japanese in Resort World.
We saw this really sexy girl walk by and we all dared Turtle (our receptionist) to go take photo of her, and well, she did after bribing her some money, haha. The crazy part is, she was with her boyfriend and Turtle slicked her way into getting the boyfriend to take these photos. Yeah, we’re all bored, but what else do you do when you see something so sexy walk by? She is sexy from a distance but after taking a closer look, I think all she has going is her curves…
Technically I only gave Turtle a couple bucks cause she still owed me 600 peso for eating wasabi days before at another Japanese restaurant.
We also saw the latest Mission Impossible movie at the Newport Theater in a VIP type room with reclining chairs. The theater servers brought free soda drinks and popcorn, which I thought was a nice touch.
We later went gambling at Resort World which is located across the street from the NAIA Airport 3.
We won, lost and won some more but overall we all went home with a little bit more cash in our pockets (that or dignity) that night.
A funny story, a while ago when I went there, a Filipino was yelling “FUCK IT” really loud from across the way. Not just once, but several times. We felt strange why the guy would be yelling such cursed words aloud. So we started saying it out loud as well thinking it was a Filipino term for good luck. Finally the dealer told us, he is yelling “MONKEY” which means FACE CARD. Oh the shame.
Another night the night shift crew and I threw a small party and decided to prank call Turtle several times. Obviously we were drinking. I will post links to the videos later, although be warned, they’re in Tagalog (Filipino language).
Here is the next day aftermath.
Turtle was so angry the next day cause we wouldn’t let her sleep, she let us have it (photo below)
I know, I know, do I want to die? (question from Turtle)
Answer is; I am 7000+ miles away, so good luck with that, haha.
Before leaving Philippines, we got Turtle her very own, first domain name for Christmas. Her name is Marlyn Co so what better domain to get her then www.Marlyn.CO ? We will have to set it up for her after all the holidays are passed. Let me guess the color theme, pink?
I am now in USA writing this up. I will modify the publish date before Christmas so this doesn’t collide with my other China post. I will miss not being able to see my team. However thanks to technology (skype, messengers, email) we will remain in touch on a daily basis.
Thanks again to my team of Filipinos and Happy Holidays everyone!
Looking forward to a bright and prosperous 2012 new year!
